The Yorkshire Filipino Group (YFG) Cultural Dance Troupe will conclude its Summer 2026 cultural tour at the Cheshire East Barrio Fiesta on 25 July 2026. The event takes place at Queens Park in Crewe and brings together Filipino communities from across the United Kingdom.

This marks the troupe’s third consecutive year performing at the popular cultural festival. Their return celebrates Filipino heritage through traditional music, dance, and community spirit.
A Celebration of Filipino Folk Dance
This year’s performance features a vibrant medley of three traditional Filipino folk dances. Karatong showcases joyful harvest celebrations using bamboo drums and bunga mangga percussion instruments. Bulaklakan reflects the beauty of flowers and graceful courtship traditions from Bulacan. Subli honours faith and devotion through elegant movements and rhythmic bamboo castanets from Batangas. Together, these dances highlight the richness and diversity of Philippine culture.

A Collaborative Creative Effort
The performance is the result of weeks of dedication, teamwork, and creativity.

Volunteer choreographer Revson Ignacio conceptualised the programme and led the Philippine Arts Workshops throughout the summer. He was supported by Vhie Linford, Luisa Domingo, and Emma Chu, who helped teach and guide participants during rehearsals. The colourful folk dance costumes were designed and created by Cherry Mullins. Her craftsmanship helped bring each dance to life on stage while celebrating authentic Filipino traditions.

Building Community Through Philippine Arts
The cultural dance programme is more than preparing performances. It creates opportunities for people to reconnect with their heritage, build friendships, and strengthen community ties.

Participants come from different backgrounds and professions, yet they share one goal. They proudly preserve and promote Filipino traditions for future generations. Each rehearsal has strengthened confidence, encouraged teamwork, and created lasting memories.
Supported by Creative Hearts United
The YFG Cultural Dance Troupe forms part of the Philippine Arts Workshop facilitated by Creative Hearts United. The programme provides accessible cultural opportunities for adults and young people interested in Philippine performing arts. It continues to celebrate Filipino identity while enriching the cultural life of local communities.

Creative Hearts United thanks Leeds City Council, People’s Postcode Lottery, the Brelms Trust, and generous community donors for supporting this year’s programme. Their support has made the workshops, costumes, rehearsals, and performances possible.
Looking Ahead
As the curtain falls on the Summer 2026 tour, the Cheshire East Barrio Fiesta marks another proud milestone for the Yorkshire Filipino Group Cultural Dance Troupe.
The final performance celebrates months of hard work, volunteer commitment, and community collaboration. More importantly, it demonstrates how traditional Filipino arts continue to inspire, educate, and bring people together across the United Kingdom.

Creative Hearts United congratulates every performer, volunteer, and supporter who made this successful summer programme possible. The organisation looks forward to creating more opportunities to celebrate Philippine arts, culture, and heritage in the years ahead.
