Creative Hearts United was delighted to witness the Hope Leeds Community Church Summer Camp 2026 at Lenchwood Christian Centre, Evesham in 2 August 2026 . The annual gathering celebrated faith, fellowship, and Filipino culture through a lively Barrio Fiesta-themed folk dance competition.
A Church Serving the Community
Hope Leeds Community Church serves Leeds and the surrounding areas since 2016. The church provides weekly worship services, children’s and youth ministries, community outreach, home and hospital visits for the Filipino community.
The summer camp reflected the church’s commitment to bringing people together through faith, learning, and community.
Celebrating the Philippines Through Dance
Church life groups competed by presenting Filipino folk dances and cultural scenes that showcased the country’s rich heritage. Performances included Pandanggo sa Ilaw, Pamaypay de Manila, Kinaham ni Lolo, Cariñosa, Paruparong Bukid, Mamang Sorbetero, Singkil, Dinagyang, Karatong, and the traditional dances of the Cordillera mountain communities.
Each group demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and respect for Filipino traditions through colourful costumes, music, and storytelling.
York Road Life Group Takes First Prize
A panel of judges evaluated each performance for cultural presentation, choreography, costumes, creativity, and teamwork.
The York Road Life Group won first prize for the second consecutive year with its outstanding Cordillera mountain dance. Their energetic performance impressed the judges with its authenticity, strong storytelling, and excellent teamwork.
Building Community Through Culture
Creative Hearts United congratulates Hope Leeds Community Church and every life group for delivering an inspiring celebration of Filipino culture. The event showed how traditional music and dance can strengthen friendships, deepen cultural understanding, and bring communities together through shared experiences.
