The summer sun shone brightly over East End Park in Leeds. Members of the Yorkshire Filipino Group (YFG) Cultural Dance Troupe gathered for an outdoor rehearsal. The pleasant weather created the perfect setting for Filipino folk dance practice.

Bringing Filipino Culture to Life
The dancers rehearsed three traditional Filipino folk dances. These included Karatong, Bulaklakan, and Subli. Each dance reflects the rich culture and heritage of the Philippines. The troupe practised formations, footwork, and musical timing. Their dedication showed in every movement.

Preparing for Future Performances
The rehearsal supports preparations for upcoming community events and cultural celebrations. The dancers continue to build confidence and teamwork.

Creative Hearts United proudly supports these cultural activities. The organisation promotes Filipino arts, culture, and heritage in Leeds. Through regular rehearsals, the YFG Cultural Dance Troupe keeps Filipino traditions alive for future generations.
Supporting Community Participation
Community donations help make these cultural activities possible. Funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery Grant Programme also supports the project. Additional support comes from the Brelms Trust. Leeds City Council’s East Leeds Community Committee also contributes funding.

This support directly benefits our participants and wider community. The funding enables Creative Hearts United to provide accessible cultural arts opportunities. Together, these supporters help strengthen Filipino culture and community connections in Leeds.
