The Yorkshire Filipino Group (YFG) Cultural Dance Troupe completed its 2026 summer tour at Cheshire East Barrio Fiesta on 25 July 2026. The event at Queens Park, Crewe marked the troupe’s third consecutive performance at this celebration of Filipino culture. The troupe showcased Philippine heritage through traditional folk dances. Volunteers, participants, and community groups united to preserve Filipino traditions in the UK.
A Celebration of Filipino Heritage
The YFG Cultural Dance Troupe performed a medley of three traditional Filipino folk dances: Karatong, Bulaklakan, and Subli.
Karatong comes from Palawan and uses bamboo instruments to create lively rhythms. The dance reflects joyful community celebrations. Bulaklakan means “flower garden” and features graceful movements with floral props. The dance represents beauty, friendship, and Filipino hospitality. Subli originated in Batangas and honours the Holy Cross. The dance combines devotion, music, and meaningful movements.
Creative Hearts United Brings Culture to the Stage
Creative Hearts United facilitated the summer cultural dance programme. The charity organised workshops, rehearsals, and performances throughout the tour.
Members of the Filipino community in Leeds learned the dances through workshops led by volunteer choreographers. The programme developed confidence, strengthened friendships, and encouraged cultural pride among participants.
A Strong Community Presence in Crewe
Creative Hearts United sent more than 35 delegates to Cheshire East Barrio Fiesta 2026. The delegation included dancers, volunteers, supporters, families, and members of the NJr Drums and Lyres. The group supported the performance and strengthened connections with Filipino communities across the UK.

The YFG Cultural Dance Troupe celebrated its third consecutive appearance at Cheshire East Barrio Fiesta. Each performance introduces new audiences to authentic Philippine folk traditions. The festival provides an important platform for sharing Filipino culture and strengthening community partnerships.
Looking Ahead
Creative Hearts United and the YFG Cultural Dance Troupe celebrate another successful summer of cultural exchange. We thank Pauline Tinsley and the Cheshire East Filipino Community organising team for their warm welcome and hospitality. Their support helped create another memorable Barrio Fiesta celebration.
