The 40th Barrio Fiesta sa London 2024 was a vibrant celebration of Filipino culture, and this year, the YFG Cultural Dance Troupe made a notable impact. Invited by Asian Global UK to support their beauty pageants, the troupe participated in the cultural parade and competition, showcasing their passion and talent in the performing arts.
A Journey Fueled by Passion and Generosity
On 20 July 2024, a group of seven dedicated members of the YFG Dance Troupe set off from Leeds, traveling to London with an overnight stop in Goole at the Green House runned by the Punton Family.
The trip was partly sponsored by Asian Global UK and Creative Hearts United, covering accommodation and transportation costs. The team members themselves contributed to the remaining expenses, demonstrating their deep commitment.
Upon arrival, they participated at the longest cultural parade in the history of Barrio Fiesta sa London with other 38 charitable and community groups. After which they competed against in the cultural dance. Their exceptional performance earned them a well-deserved 3rd place. The highlight of the event was a simple yet heartfelt ceremony where Mrs. Aireen Gauntlett, the chairperson of Asian Global UK with Mr Wil Marcos as her side, donated the cash prize to the YFG in front of the Barrio Fiesta sa London banner.
A Testament to Dedication
This achievement is a testament to the troupe’s dedication to the performing arts. It also highlights the importance of community support and collaboration, as demonstrated by the roles of Asian Global UK and Creative Hearts United. The latter facilitated the project, expressing immense pride in being part of this successful collaboration.
A Historic Event
The Barrio Fiesta sa London 2024 marked the festival’s biggest comeback since the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing in an approximately 7,000 crowds and participants eager to celebrate Filipino culture. Organised by TFC Europe in partnership with the Philippine Centre charity organisation, the event was a testament to the resilience and vibrancy of the community.
The YFG Cultural Dance Troupe’s participation and success in this event not only showcased their talent but also underscored the power of community and cultural pride. As the festival concluded, it left an indelible mark on all who attended, celebrating the richness of Filipino heritage and the unifying power of the arts.
