The Yorkshire Filipino Group (YFG) Cultural Dance Troupe delivered a memorable performance at the Bradford Filipino Barrio Fiesta. The troupe showcased traditional Filipino folk dances and celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. This performance also launched the troupe’s 2026 summer cultural tour.

Bringing Filipino Culture to Life
The YFG Cultural Dance Troupe was formed through the Philippine Cultural Arts Workshop Project. The project is delivered by Creative Hearts United, it runned a series of folk dance sessions and creates opportunities for Filipinos in Leeds to enjoy arts, culture, and recreation.

Throughout the summer, participants learn traditional Filipino folk dances. The programme builds cultural pride, strengthens friendships, and encourages community engagement. For many participants, these workshops provide a valuable opportunity to connect with others outside of work. The activities support well-being by creating a welcoming space for social interaction, creativity, and shared cultural experiences.
Showcasing Three Traditional Filipino Folk Dances
At the Barrio Fiesta, the troupe performed a vibrant folk dance medley. The performance featured Karatong, Bulaklakan, and Subli.

The YFG Cultural Dance Troupe presented the festival’s a Filipino traditional dance performance. Their appearance offered audiences a unique glimpse into authentic Filipino traditions. The performance added cultural depth and diversity to the celebration.
