Creative Hearts United’s folk dance volunteers developed the new dance routine for this summer. The initial workshop is guided by Ravson Ignacio, supported by Vhie Linford, Luisa Domingo, Tesy Reyes and Emma Chu.

The workshop welcomes a new batch of YFG participants this year. The programme expects 20 returning members and new sign‑ups for 2026. The dance troupe includes healthcare workers, carers, homemakers, students, and young professionals. They represent the Filipino diaspora who stay connected to their heritage while embracing life in Leeds.

The team will run a series of dance workshops at Dance Studio Leeds. The workshops will feature three folk dances: Karatong, Bulaklakan, and Subli. A separate workshop will teach participants how to make the traditional costumes and props for these dances.

Community donations, People’s Postcode Lottery Grant Programme, Brelms Trust, and Leeds City Council’s East Leeds Community Committee funding support the project, directly benefiting our beneficiaries. This support enables Creative Hearts United to offer accessible cultural arts opportunities for the Filipino community in Leeds.
The workshop forms part of the 2026 Philippine Cultural Arts Programme facilitated by Creative Hearts United, a registered charity dedicated to promoting Filipino arts and culture in the United Kingdom. The organisation is responsible for seeking funding to support the programme’s delivery and will also provide the workshop venues, refreshments, logistics, choreography, recruitment, marketing, and overall tour management.
