The summer kicked off in spectacular fashion for the Yorkshire Filipino Group (YFG) Cultural Dance Troupe, as they lit up the stage at the 41st Barrio Fiesta sa London’s All-Star Artists Showcase with a show-stopping rendition of this year’s featured cultural piece—Pintados.

This landmark event was jointly organised by ABS-CBN’s TFC Europe and the Philippine Centre, drawing together Filipino artists, performers, and community groups from across the UK.
The Pintados cultural dance project was thoughtfully managed by Creative Hearts United, through the Leeds City Council’s Cultural Investment Programme, generous donations, and self-funding from the performers themselves—a true reflection of community-driven spirit and pride.
Planning began in April, with choreographers Revson, Vhie, Dolce, and Emma crafting a performance that fused historical storytelling with expressive movement. With returning members and a powerful wave of teen dancers from the Filipino community in Leeds, the troupe radiated youthfulness and heartfelt passion.
Meet the 2025 YFG Cultural Dance Troupe:
Revson, Vhie, Emma, Dolce, Girlie, Emmalyn, Luisa, Tess, Cherry, Lola Em, Ethel, Gigie, Jason, Steven, Tony, Raeanne, Chryza, Jessica, Ren, Cyrus, Dominic, and Nathan —each one brought dedication and spirit to the stage, turning choreography into cultural storytelling.

Supported by Creative Hearts United, a Filipino arts charity dedicated to preserving heritage through performing and visual arts, YFG stands as a beacon for the Filipino community in Leeds. Their mission is clear: celebrate and amplify Philippine culture through meaningful performances.
Their featured piece, Pintados, portrayed a thrilling encounter between the tattooed warrior tribes of the Visayas and the noble Maharlikans of Luzon. With every beat, stance, and rhythm, the dancers honored the strength and diversity of pre-colonial Filipino history—inviting the audience to connect with legacy through movement.
“It’s inspiring to see the youth of the Filipino community in Leeds carry tradition with such pride and elegance,” remarked one attendee.
From preparation to performance, YFG has proven that community, culture, and commitment make for a breathtaking summer tour launch. Stay tuned as they continue to represent the Filipino community in Leeds on stages across the UK—bold, proud, and beautifully united.
