On the evening of December 13th, the Yorkshire Filipino Group (YFG) and Creative Hearts United came together to host the much-anticipated 2nd YFG Christmas Party at East End Park Working Men’s Club. This vibrant gathering exemplified the spirit of unity and generosity, creating an event truly for the community and by the community.
A Free Celebration, Thanks to Generosity
The party’s free entrance was made possible by the incredible generosity of the community. This gesture ensured that everyone could join the festivities without barriers, celebrating the season of giving and joy together for the large Filipino population in Leeds and the surrounding area.
A Feast of Shared Dishes
In true Filipino tradition, the food was potluck-style, with attendees sharing their special dishes. The tables were brimming with a variety of flavorful and lovingly prepared meals, showcasing the diversity and richness of Filipino cuisine. The communal feast brought everyone together, symbolizing the unity and camaraderie that define this vibrant community.
Fundraising Through Generosity
To support next year’s cultural projects, a raffle draw was held with an impressive array of prizes, all donated by generous community members and sponsors. Special thanks go to Mrs Malou Cortez of Neolife Health System, Mrs Pauline Tinsley of SMDC Properties, S&G Parsons Remittance Services, May Young, Elizabeth Clover, Vhie and Steve Linford, members of YFG, and those who wanted to remain anonymous.
The raffle not only added excitement to the evening but also underscored the collective effort to nurture the community’s cultural heritage.
Performances That Sparkled
A variety of performances lit up the stage, showcasing the immense talent within the community. A special highlight was the YFG dancers, who dedicated themselves to rigorous rehearsals to perfect their steps, delivering a performance that left the audience in awe. Their hard work was a testament to the dedication and passion of the performers.
Contributors Behind the Scenes
Creative Hearts United played a pivotal role in facilitating and managing the event from start to finish. From booking the venue to coordinating the catering, facilitating dance rehearsals, and organizing the awarding, they ensured that every detail was executed seamlessly. Such an event wouldn’t have been possible without the invaluable contributions of individuals who lent their resources and expertise. The PA systems, generously provided by Mark Punton, ensured seamless sound for the performances. Cherry Mullins’ beautiful decorations added a festive and welcoming atmosphere to the venue.
A Night of Giving and Togetherness
The YFG Christmas Party was more than just a celebration; it was a powerful reminder of the joy that comes from giving and the strength that comes from community. The night embraced the true essence of Christmas—generosity, unity, and hope. It brought people together in a joyful gathering that will be cherished as one of the year’s highlights.
As the festivities concluded, the warmth of the season lingered in every heart, a testament to the beauty of a community coming together to celebrate, give, and hope for a brighter future.
