The atmosphere in the hall was electric as Filipino families, students, nurses, and community leaders arrived in traditional attire, waving Philippine flags and showing their deep pride. It was more than just a concert—it was a celebration of culture, identity, and unity.

Led by world-renowned conductor Grzegorz Nowak, the PPO performed classical masterpieces including Carmen, Swan Lake, Lark Ascending, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. This concert is of particular significance as we celebrate Bradford’s year as the UK’s City of Culture, with a performance of our own city’s great composer Frederik Delius’s piano concerto, performed by the distinguished British pianist Mark Bebbington. , which will also be premiered in Manila.

The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1973, is the Philippines’ leading symphony orchestra and has earned international recognition for its artistry and excellence. Its UK tour not only showcases Filipino talent but also strengthens cultural ties with British audiences.

For the Filipino community in Bradford and Yorkshire, the evening was a proud reminder that Filipino culture and music continue to shine brightly on the world stage.
