At Creative Hearts United, safeguarding is a top priority. We are committed to protecting children and adults at risk from harm, abuse, and neglect in all our activities.
Our Safeguarding Policy sets out clear procedures that ensure a safe environment for everyone involved in the charity. It outlines the responsibilities of staff and volunteers, explains how to report safeguarding concerns, establishes safe recruitment practices, and defines a clear code of conduct. Our trustees ensure that volunteers who engage in “regulated activity” with children undergo Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.

The Charity Commission for England and Wales states that all charities must ensure that their activities do not cause harm to anyone who has contact with them. Charities that work with children and adults at risk carry an even greater responsibility. Trustees may delegate safeguarding tasks, but they retain overall responsibility for putting proper safeguarding measures in place.
A strong safeguarding culture helps us:
- Protect people who engage with our charity
- Minimise risks of harm or abuse
- Ensure concerns are reported and handled appropriately
- Make sure everyone understands their role in safeguarding
We regularly identify and manage safeguarding risks based on who we work with, where we operate, and the activities we deliver. Our policies and practices are reviewed regularly, at least once a year, to ensure they remain effective and up to date.

At Creative Hearts United, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we remain committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for our community.
