Yorkshire Filipino Group at Uganda-Bradford Business Event

On Monday, 28 April 2025, Gigie Fletcher proudly represented the Yorkshire Filipino Group (YFG) at the “Uganda is open for business – and Bradford is ready to connect!” event, held at the iconic Midland Hotel. The gathering marked a key moment in Bradford’s journey toward City of Culture 2025, bringing together community leaders, business minds, and international delegates.

Hosted in partnership with Her Excellency Nimisha Madhvani, Uganda’s High Commissioner to the UK, the event opened doors for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. With direct flights from London Gatwick to Entebbe starting 18 May 2025, and Uganda offering fast-track visas and investment opportunities, the focus was firmly on future-facing collaboration.

Gigie’s participation reflected the Yorkshire Filipino Group’s growing global reach and its central role in promoting Filipino culture and community development across Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region. For years, YFG has been a cornerstone of Filipino representation — leading cultural events, supporting youth and families, and strengthening ties between local communities and global initiatives.

“Yorkshire’s diversity is its strength, and we’re proud to be part of this global conversation,” Gigie shared. “YFG continues to champion Filipino presence in Yorkshire while building meaningful connections beyond.”

This historic event celebrated resilience, enterprise, and the power of diaspora leadership — with the Yorkshire Filipino Group standing proudly at the heart of it all.
