02 July 2022 Ramgarhia Sports Centre. The Santa Cruzan parade marked the opening of Leeds Barrio Fiesta 2022, receiving a warm welcome from the Filipino community in Leeds. Parents lovingly adorned their children in elaborate gowns and suits, reminiscent of the long-standing Flores de Mayo procession typically celebrated at the end of May in the Philippines.
The main event, Leeds Barrio Fiesta 2022, took place on 2 July 2022 at the Ramgarhia Sports Centre. This event was meticulously organised by the Filipino Leeds Community (FLC), a charitable organisation comprised of volunteers with Filipino heritage dedicated to promoting and preserving the arts, culture, and heritage of the Philippines. Leading the effort, Mrs Emma Chu, the vice-chairperson of FLC, along with Mr Ronald Chu, Mrs Luisa Domingo, Mrs Donna Aspiras, and Mrs Natasha Quiachon, played a pivotal role in orchestrating this vibrant one-day celebration.
